Trusted Tree Expertise You Can Stand Behind
Evidence based consulting for property owners, attorneys, and organizations across the country, delivered with honesty and genuine care.
Trees tell a story if you know how to listen.
Will Mellott has spent more than 30 years learning that language. Whether he is assessing a tree for risk, writing a report for a legal team, or teaching the next generation of arborists, his work is rooted in genuine passion for trees and the people who care for them.
William 'Will' Mellott
ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist
Will Mellott is the kind of arborist who genuinely loves what he does, and it shows. With more than 30 years of hands-on experience in arboriculture, urban forestry, and plant health care, he brings deep expertise and a refreshingly approachable style to every engagement.
As owner of Plant Health Care Services LLC, Will provides independent tree evaluations, appraisals, risk assessments, consulting reports, expert witness testimony, and deposition support for clients nationwide. He produces thorough, well-documented reports that give attorneys and legal teams the clear, credible foundation they need for depositions and courtroom testimony.
Will is also a builder and a teacher at heart. He has created urban forestry programs from the ground up, including establishing Whitworth University as the second Tree Campus USA in Washington State, and he has spent his career getting people genuinely invested in the trees around them. As a college instructor in urban forestry, he leads campus lectures, hands-on workshops, and community programs that bring the field to life. He understands that a healthy urban forest is not built through technical work alone; it takes education, community buy in, and people who feel connected to the landscape around them.
Will is also the author of the forthcoming book Tree Things: You Need to Know, sharing decades of field wisdom in a way that anyone can connect with. When he is not consulting or writing, you will likely find him playing music, bringing that same warmth and passion to everything he does.
